A mild weekend 4 - 11C mostly cloudy rain heavy at times, gale force WSW winds

Sunday 11th January

No wildlife reports - too much weather!

Saturday 10th January

Marton Mere LNR - Long eared owl, goldcrest, 2 woodcocks, little grebe

Stanley Park - 2 Mistle thrushes

Friday 9th January

Marton Mere LNR - Firecrest, goldcrest, chiffchaff

Thursday 8th January

A mild day 6 - 9C sunny spells with a moderate westerly wind

Marton Mere LNR - Firecrest, chiffchaff

The Great grey shrike is still present near the traffic lights on Queensway just over our southern border, there are three roe deer there too

New Year wildlife sightings so far

The weather has been variable from cold to very mild -3 - 11C with light to gale force winds

Monday 5th January

New South Promenade - 2000 Common scoters, red throated diver, kittiwake

Marton Mere LNR - Firecrest, treecreeper, 2 long eared owls, Iceland gull (same individual as below), 4 goldcrests, 40 Cetti's warblers, 20 long taled tits, 3 goldeneyes

Ashworth Road - Iceland gull

Town Centre - Grey wagtail

Central pier - 7500 Starlings

North pier - 5000 Starlings 

Sunday 4th January

Staining Nook - Jay, buzzard, Great spotted woodpecker

Marton Mere LNR -  Firecrest, 2 stonechats, 2 long eared owls (please do not leave the path to view these birds), jay, Cetti's warbler

North Shore - 4 Purple sandpiper

Ashworth Rd - Iceland gull

Saturday 3rd January

Stanley Park - 30 Long tailed tits, 2 treecreepers

Marton Mere LNR - Iceland gull

Friday 2nd January

North Shore - 2000 Common scoters

Marton Mere LNR - Long eared owl

Thursday 1st January

Marton Mere LNR - Long eared owl, Cetti's warbler, shelduck

Stanley Park - 57 Shovelers, 56 tufted ducks, 7 pochards, 190 coot

A very warm December day 9 - 11C, thick low cloud with a blustery strong SW wind

Washington Avenue - Sparrowhawk 

New South Promenade - 200 Knot, 30 sanderlings

Mild again 5 - 10C mostly cloudy, moderate WSW wind

Marton Mere LNR - Stoat (with prey - looked like it could have been a water rail), barn owl, 54 wigeon, goldeneye, 2 Cetti's warblers, water rail

Stanley Park - 6 great crested grebe, 5 pochards 

Lawson's field - a few fieldfares

New South Promenade - 'Northern' type herring gull

New South Promenade - 30 Knot, 500 dunlin, 50 redhanks, 2 ringed plovers
