Warm night and average day temperatures 7 - 12C some sunny spells later with a blustery moderate SW wind

Marton Mere LNR - Common scoter (a male this time - two in a year is extremely unusual), sedge warbler, blackcap, house martin, little grebe, water rail, 4 Cetti's warblers, 13 linnets, 2 oystercatchers, 3 lapwings

Starr Gate - 2 Sandwich terns

Burlington Road beach - Yellow legged gull

Monday 13th April

Another chilly start with a slightly warmer than average finish 2- 13C sunny spells with a blustery SW wind

Marton Mere LNR - 26 Golden plovers (N, now very scarce here), 34 sand martins, 2 house martins, 17 swallows, 3 willow warblers, 2 chiffchaffs, 2 blackcaps, 2 Cetti's warblers, redshank, 2 oystercatchers, peregrine (W), sparrowhawk, tree sparrow

Heron's Reach - 4 Blackcaps, 2 lesser redpolls,

Marton - Willow warbler, mistle thrush, sparrowhawk

Warbreck Hill - Chiffchaff

Town Centre - Peregrine, 2 swallows

Stanley Park - Tree pipit, 8 willow warblers

A mixed April day temperature-wise starting very cold then becoming much warmer than average 1 - 15C sunny, no wind

North Shore - Harbour porpoise, grey seal, 4 Sandwich terns, gannet, eider, lesser redpoll (N)

Marton Mere LNR - Peregrine, 20 wigeon, 8 swallows, sand martins, curlew (NE), buzzard, Cetti's warbler (heard in wet fields LNR extension, a new location for the species), barn owl, goldeneye

Lawson's Wetland - Cetti's warbler

Heron's Reach - several Small tortoiseshell and peacock butterflies

Marton - 3 Buzzards (circling high)

Over the school holiday B & FC marine biology student Lee will be at the Solaris Centre with his touch-tank for children, of all ages, to explore and see our coastal wildlife close up


He will be available  Monday 6th to Wednesday 8th 10 - 4pm. Come along and ask him him all your marine biology questions.
