A better day but a little cooler than average 13 - 16C mostly sunny with a moderate north westerly wind

New South Promenade - 2 Grey seals

Solaris Centre - Solaitary bee Megachile centuncularis (found dead indoors but 1st record for Blackpool and 2nd record for Fylde)

A miserable cool wet day 14 - 17C rain all morning some broken cloud in the afternoon, rain returning in the evening with a light to moderate westerly wind

Weekend round-up 10th - 12th July

A warmer than average weekend for mid-July 11 - 25C, mostly sunny but with overnight rain and blustery westerly winds

Sunday 12th July

Devonshire Road Rock Gardens - 2 White letter hairstreaks, >100 meadow browns, >50 large skippers, >30 small skippers, 5 speckled woods, red admiral, comma, brown hawker, 3 whiitethroats, blackcap, 2 chiffchaffs, song thrush, 3 swifts

Marton Mere LNR - 2ad + 3juv Kestrels, 3 stock doves, great spotted woodpecker, buzard

Saturday 11th July

Devonshire Road Rock Gardens - Vestal cuckoo bee (1st record for Blackpool, 2nd for Fylde), 3 white letter hairstreaks, >50 meadow browns, >25 large skippers, >20 small skippers, speckled wood, red admiral, comma, 2 swifts,2 Siskins (E), blackcap, toad, several 1st year frogs

Warbreck Hill - 3 Swifts, song thrush

Lawson's Wetland - Kestrel, sedge warbler, whitethroat, 3 reed buntings

North Blackpool Pond Trail crematorium - 5 4-spotted chasers, emperor dragonfly, good show of tubular water dropwort, excellent show of common wildflowers on unmown areas of cemetery.

Friday 10th July

Devonshire Road Rock Gardens - 2 White letter hairstreaks

Solaris Centre - Ergot fungus

New South Promenade - Grey seal

Town Centre - Sparrowhawk (over), grey wagtail

South Pier/Central Beach - Many Moon jellyfish, several compass jellyfish, Turton's wentle trap shell, several broken pieces of small edible crabs, 3 native oysters, necklace shells, sand gaper, common otter shells, 7-spot ladybird (somewhat out of habitat!)

A cooler than average July day 13 - 16C mostly sunny with a moderate NW breeze

Devonshire Road Rock Gardens -  Butterflies; Large Skipper 18, Small Skipper 4, Gatekeeper 1, Meadow Brown 52, Red Admiral 2, Speckled Wood 9, Small Copper 2, Brown Hawker dragonfly 1, Silver Y moths 3, male Sparrowhawk, Greenfinch 1

New South Promenade - Many Brown shrimps, many common prawns, several green shore crabs, beadlet anemones, moon jellyfish, compass jellyfish

Solaris Centre - Ergot fungus, many cinnabar moth caterpilars, small tortoiseshell butterfly, 3 common darter dragonfly nymphs, blue tailed damselfly nymph

Lawson's Wetland - Cetti's warbler

Saturday 4th July

Grange Park/City Learning Centre - Emperor dragonfly, 2 common blues, 2 meadow browns, large white, small white, speckled wood butterflies, many silver Y moths, meadow grasshopper, many hare's foot clovers, some hop trefoil, kidney vetch, wild pansy, cornflower, swift (over)

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Black tailed godwits (N), 11 tufted ducks, kestrel

Friday 3rd July

Bispham Cliffs - Grey seal, 4 Manx shearwaters

Bispham Road/Squirrel pub - Sparrowhawk (over)

Central Promenade - 6 Bottlenosed dolphins

Another hot day 14 - 28C hazy cloud with a brisk southerly wind

Solaris Centre - Small tortoiseshell butterfly, Deptford pink

New South Promenade - 6 Bottlenosed dolphins, grey seal, 5 curlews (S), 10 common scoters, Manx shearwater, 5-bearded rockling, blenny

Marton Mere LNR - 2 adult + 1 juv Great crested grebe, pochard, 2 tufted ducks, common blue butterfly

The very small and very rare Deptford PInk at the Solaris Centre
