Monday 19th December

A fraction warmer than average for mid-December 3 - 8C mostly hazy cloud with a light variable breeze

Warbreck Hill - Peregrine

Stony Hill Avenue - 20 Waxwings

Marton Mere LNR - Goldeneye, oystercatcher  (W), 4 water rails, 80 common gulls, buzzard, sparrowhawk, 25 goldfinches, 10 fieldfares, 4 Cetti's warblers, great spotted woodpecker

Solaris Centre - several Daffodils showing (no flower buds yet)

Stanley Park - Nuthatch, treecreeper, goldcrest, 2 mistle thrushes, 26 gadwall, 35 shovelers, great crested grebe

Lawson's Wetland - 12 Linnets

Saturday 17th December

Stanley Park - Whooper Swan (freed from reed raft by RSPCA)

North Shore - Eider, 8 red throated divers

North Shore go-kart track - Purple sandpiper

Friday 16th December

Town Centre - Peregrine

Starr Gate - 2 Goldeneyes, 2 red throated divers, 9 great crested grebes

Solaris Centre - 30 House sparrows

Lawson's Wetland - Cetti's warbler

Marton Mere LNR - Stoat (on the trail of a rat), 24 fieldfares, blackbird (with partially white right wing, also present yesterday), 12 long tailed tits, 2 goldcrests, 2 Cetti's warblers, 3 snipe, 2 skylarks (E)

Lawson's Wetland - Cetti's warbler

Solaris Centre - 2 Robins, daffodils sprouting

Starr Gate - Velvet scoter, 1500 common scoters, 46 red throated divers, 11 great crested grebes, 14 razorbills, 7 guillemots

Sunday 11th December

EVENT - Marton Mere LNR Saturday 10th December 10am - 3pm Practical conservation day. Give volunteering at the nature reserve a try, get involved with a practical conservation task. This might be removing vegetation, clearing pathways or renovating benches or hides. The day's project will be confirmed prior to the event. Free but please book at marton.mere@blackpool.gov.uk
