Cold for early May 2 - 11C sunny with a very light north easterly increasing a little and turning north westerly

Heron's Reach - Lesser whitethroat

Heron's Reach golf course - 2 Tufted ducks

Salisbury Woodland Gardens - Stock dove, ramsons (Aka wild garlic, a superb display)

Marton Mere LNR - Lesser whitethroat, 2 Cetti's warblers, 6 sand martins, 3 swifts, 2 tree sparrows, kestrel, buzzard

Warbreck Hill - Pipistrelle bat (1st of year here)

Solaris Centre - 2 Linnets

Starr Gate - Grey seal, 8 red throated divers (N)

EVENT- Bioblitz at Blackpool Zoo, Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st May - See poster below but note that events shaded green must be pre-booked. For the other events normal zoo admission fees apply

Thursday 9th February

A cold day -2 - 3C cloudy, light sleet showers in the afternoon, with a moderate but decreasing easterly wind

Marton Mere LNR - Barn owl, kestrel, 2 sparrowhawks, 50 wigeon, 4 goldeneyes, 3 great crested grebes, 28 fieldfares, 3 Cetti's warblers, 2 water rails, coal tit, goldcrest

Starr Gate - 1000 Common scoters

Salisbury Woodland Gardens - Stock dove (very unusual here)

Heron's Reach golf course - Goldeneye, 7 gadwall

Town Centre - 2 Peregrines

Stanley Park - 54 Tufted ducks, 49 shovelers, 39 gadwall, 16 herons (on island), 2 great crested grebes, 2 mistle thrushes, sparrowhawk, great spotted woodpecker

Monday 1st August

A little cooler than average for early August 11 - 18C mostly cloudy with a light variable wind

Marton - 5 Swifts (over)

Stanley Park - 2 Great crested grebes + juv

Marton Mere LNR - Great crested grebe + juv, kestrel, sparrowhawk, 28 tufted ducks

New South Promenade - Harbour porpoise, 4 grey seals, 635 common scotters, 3 Manx shearwaters, Mediterranean gull, 40 gannets, whimbrel, 4 little egrets, 170 Sandwich terns, 10 swifts

EVENT - Marton Mere LNR  Wildlife Recording Walk Tuesday 2nd August 1pm - 3pm Meet at Lawson's Road gate (opposite Lancaster Road) Come along to learn about what species are around in the summer and how to identify them, from birds to butterflies, wildflowers to dragonflies. FREE but a donation to the Friends of MArton Mere would be welcome.

EVENT - North Blackpool Pond Trail Kincraig Lake - The natural world under our feet Tuesday 9th August 10am - 12 Meet at the duck viewing area (FY2 0HN) for an amazing family fun finding out what life is beneath our feet with expert Charlie Pass. Free but donation to the Friends of North Blackpool Pond Trail would be appreciated.

Sunday 10th January

North Shore go-kart track - Purple sandpiper

Starr Gate - 5 Kittiwakes, 17 pintails (S)

Marton Mere LNR - 3 goldeneyes, 5 stock doves, 30 linnets, 14 snipe, water rail, 5 pochards

Lawson's Wetland - Stonechat

Saturday 9th January

Starr Gate - Long tailed duck (S), 5 wigeon (S), 8 teal (S), 2 goldeneyes (S), 15 pintails (S), 800 common scoter (S), 13 red throated divers (S)

Marton Mere LNR - 3 Long eared owls, 6 Cetti's warblers, goldcrest, buzzard, 85 tufted ducks, 6 pochards, 4 goldeneyes, 140 wigeon, 320 teal, 4 water rails, 4 mistle thrushes

Marton Mere LNR - 83 Tufted ducks, 3 goldeneyes, 17 shovelers, sparrowhawk, coal tit, long eared owl

Lawson's Field/Heron's Reach - Yellowhammer

New South Promenade - 10 Teal (S), 6 Kittiwakes (N), 6 red throated divers (5S, 1 N)

Wednesday 6th January

Marton Mere LNR - 175 Wigeon, 3 goldeneyes, 57 tufted ducks, 5 stock doves, 27 fieldfares, redwing, goldcrest, coal tit, 500 pink footed geese, 10 shovelers, 4 pochards
