About average temperatures for early February -1 - 8C lengthy sunny spells with a brisk but decreasing south easterly wind becoming very light westerly

Tuesday 7th February

Warbreck Hill - 2 Peregrines

Starr Gate - Great Northern Diver, 3 little gulls, 29 red throated divers, 950 common scoters

Marton Mere LNR - Otter, 150 Wigeon, 6 goldeneyes, 45 fieldfares, 4 water rails, 3 Cetti's warblers, snowdrops (in flower)

Lawson's field - Stonechat

Heron's Reach - Blackthorn (in flower)

Mere Park pub - 3 Pied wagtails

Monday 6th February

Anchorsholme - 8 Waxwings

Marton Mere LNR - Iceland gull, 65 common gulls, 45 fieldfares, buzzard, 3 Cetti's warblers, great spotted woodpecker

Starr Gate - Great northern diver, many curved razor shells, lesser spotted catshark mermaid's purse (egg case), kelp sp seaweed (unusual here)

North Shore - 8 Great crested grebes

Tuesday 29th November

A cold day -4 - 4C sunny with a very light south easterly breeze

North Shore go-kart track - 2 Purple sandpipers

Town Centre - 2 Grey wagtails

St Clement's Avenue - Grey wagtail

New South Promenade - Grey plover, 12 turnstones, 3 Pied wagtails

Starr Gate - 2 Velvet scoters, 2 scaup, 1000 common scoters, 9 wigeon, 2 teal, 50 red throated divers, 54 great crested grebes, 3 razorbills

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Long eared owls (view only from the paths - do not enter the scrub to look for these birds), 2 goldcrests, 2 goldeneyes, 3 pochards, 3 little grebes, sparrowhawk

EVENT - Marton Mere LNR Saturday 10th December 10am - 3pm Practical conservation day. Give volunteering at the nature reserve a try, get involved with a practical conservation task. This might be removing vegetation, clearing pathways or renovating benches or hides. The day's project will be confirmed prior to the event. Free but please book at marton.mere@blackpool.gov.uk
