A cool March day 4 - 8C murky and overcast with a light easterly wind

Lawson's Field - 2 Wheatears, 5 reed buntings, bee orchid rosettes (in an unusual place on the mown grass area near De Vere's pond)

Marton Mere LNR - Cetti's warbler (in NW scrub), little grebe, buzzard

Town Centre - Grey wagtail

Solaris Centre - Grey wagtail (S)

Layton Cemetery - Great spotted woodpecker

Saturday March 22nd is National Community Clear Up Day. We’ll be holding a litter pick across the site to have a spring clean. We’re meeting at 10am at the new Visitors Centre and will split up across the site from there. This is open to everyone

Marton Mere LNR - Iceland gull, 7 Cetti's warblers, 6 snipe, 5 goldeneyes, 2 tree sparrows, 4 oystercatchers, little grebe, water rail, 84 coots, 3 goldcrests, kestrel, buzzard.

Heron's Reach - Cetti's warbler, 2 goldcrests

Salisbury Woodland - 2 Jays, goldcrests, great spotted woddpecker, coal tit.

Stanley Park - Grey wagtail, buzzard (over)

Saturday 14th March

Lawson's Wetland - Cetti's warbler, 2 stonechats (pair)

Marton Mere LNR - Buzzard, 2 great crested grebes, little grebe, 4 goldeneyes, 2 oystercatchers

On Sunday 15th March there will be a BEAT NatureWatch volunteer work party at Cherry Tree (11.00am - 3.00pm) to clear the margins of the pond for amphibians and reptiles.
All welcome, wear wellies or stout boots and thick gloves, bring your lunch. Meet at Asda car park at 10.45. Please contact David McGrath david.mcgrath @ blackpool.gov.uk (without the spaces) or 01253 478023 before lunchtime on Friday if you are coming along so we know how many tools are needed.

Marton Mere LNR - Iceland gull, firecrest, treecreeper, barn owl, 4 Cetti's warblers, stonechat, pochard, great crested grebe, 7 goldeneyes, 3 water rails, 70 fieldfares, 35 pied wagtails (NW - where is the roost, Victoria hospital?), 2 goldcrests, 2 mistle thrushes

North Shore garden - Blackcap

North Pier - 5000 Starlings (roosted)

North Blackpool Pond Trail Kincraig Lake - Heron (on nest), great crested grebe, 7 teal, sparrowhawk, great spotted woodpecker

Starr Gate - 6 Kittiwakes

Saturday 28th February

North Shore Go-kart track - 2 Purple sandpipers, 180 redshanks, 26 turnstones

North Shore - 1200 Common scoters, 2 eiders
