An average July day 11 - 19C lengthy sunny spells with a ligh but increasing southerly wind

Heron's Reach - Chiffchaff (at nest), sparrowhawk (with prey), blackcap, common blue damselfly, brown hawker dragonfly, small skipper butterfly, 4 speckled wood butterflies, comma butterfly, scorpion fly

Staining Nook - 4 Whitethroats, blackcap, willow warbler, chiffchaff, sedge warbler, song thrush

Devonshire Road Rock Gardens - 2 White letter hairstreak butterflies

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Common terns (briefly), sparrowhawk, kestrel, 29 lapwings, 2 oystercatchers

Event - Marton Mere Local Nature Reserve Summer Festival of Wildlife
Saturday 9th July 10am - 4pm at the Reserve's Visitor Centre on Marton Mere Caravan Park  FY4 4XN next to the Spar shop.

Event - North Blackpool Pond Trail Kincraig Lake Big Butterfly Count. Nets at the ready and we're off...Take part in this national survey to learn about and count our local butterflies.

Please bring binoculars if you have them, some may be available for use on the day, telescopes will also be available. Dress for the weather, sunscreen and hat or winter woollies.
There is ample on-street free parking close to both locations and a small free carpark at the Solaris Centre (FY4 1RW) opposite the Mirror Ball. Pay & Display parking is also available on the Promenade at the Mirror Ball and at Gynn Square (FY1 2JR)
