Still cool during the day for mid June 11 - 16C sunny spells, some overnight rain with a moderate westerly breeze

Marton Mere LNR - 200 Swifts, grasshopper warbler, shoveler, 4 Cetti's warblers, kestrel, common green grasshopper, several common blue damselflies, blue tailed damselfly, 4-spotted chaser dragonfly, common blue butterfly, 3 large skippers, several speckled woods, picture winged fly (Chaetostoma cylindrica - not previously recorded here), hoverflies Volucella bombylans, V. pellucens, ?Riponnensia splendens, Tropida scita & Parhelophilus sp, spiked shieldbug, crab spider (Xysticus cristatus), Succinea putris (a snail - not previously recorded here), nettle rust fungus (Puccinia urticata)

Lawson's Wetland - Cetti's warbler, 4 reed buntings, whitethroat, sedge warbler, ragged robin

Staining Nook - Buzzard, chiffchaff

Central Beach - dead Harbour Porpoise (Please report any dead dolphins or porpoises to the UK strandings scheme at the Ntural History Museum, animals still alive should be reported to the RSPCA & British Divers Marine LIfe Rescue)

Tuesday 16th June

New South Promenade - Grey seal

Solaris Centre - Darter dragonfly nymph, blue tailed damselfly nymph, pond skater, tree bees, red tailed bumblebee, 2 different unknown species of solitary bee, many 7-spot ladybirds, 2-spot ladybird, Stigmatogaster subterraneus centipede, Tegenaria spiders, centurion fly

Monday 15th June

New South Promenade - 2 Grey seals, 8 Manx shearwaters, auk sp, 2 common sand stars, many blennies, thornback ray egg case, many common prawns, several brown shrimps, a few green shore crabs

Marton - 15 Swifts, leaf cutter bee, ruby tailed wasp

Marton Mere LNR - Painted Lady butterfly (please report any sightings to Butterfly Conservation, this year is looking like a big influx year), large skipper, small tortoiseshell, brown hawker dragonfly

Common Edge Road - Stone spider (1st record for Lancashire N of the Ribble - a common species with a southerly distribution no doubt under recorded in N Lancashire)

Highfield Humanities College - Fine show of wildflowers especially ox-eye daisies and bird's foot trefoil

Staining Nook - 4 Buzzards

New South Promenade - several Blennies, numerous Common Prawns, 4 green shore crabs, speckled sea louse.
