Wednesday 14th June

Solaris Centre - Amblyteles armatorius parasitic wasp, many broad centurion hoverflies

Washington Avenue - 2 Buzzards (over), 4 swifts, 2 house martins, swallow - Recently 10-spot ladybird, 2-spot ladybird

Stanley Park - 2 Coal tits, 2 juvenile grey wagtails, 4 adult + 1 juvenile great crested grebes

Heron's Reach golf course - 45 Marsh orchids, common spotted orchid, 10 bee orchids, Cetti's warbler

Kipling Fields - 100 Marsh orchids

Marton - Small tortoiseshell, speckled wood, 2 holly blue butterflies

Tuesday 13th June

About average temperatures for mid-June 12 - 17C some lengthy spells of sunshine with a moderate but decreasing westerly wind

New South Promenade - Blenny, several juvenile flat fish, juvenile sand eel (or possibly a juvenile pipefish), juvenile bearded rockling (not sure which species), many brown shrimps, several green shore crabs, necklace shells (some with hedgehog hydroid attached), tower shell, common otter shells, curved razor shells, striped venus shell, compass jellyfish, many sea gooseberries

Solaris Centre - Deptford pink, many broad centurion hoverflies

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Gadwall, great crested grebe, 4 lapwing, buzzard, sparrowhawk, kestrel, 21 long tailed tits

Stanley Park - 2 adult + 1 juvenile Great crested grebe, 3 blackcaps

Lawson's Field - Cetti's warbler

Heron's Reach golf course - Little grebe

Staining Nook - Cetti's warbler, willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap, whitethroat, song thrush, 10 tree sparrows

About average temperatures 13 - 16C some sunshine later with a strong westerly wind

New South Promenade - Green shore crab, common prawn, many brown shrimps, compass jellyfish, 3 juvenile flatfish sp, necklace shells, Iceland cyprine, several common otter shells, edible oyster, many pod razors, a few curved razors,

Starr Gate - Fulmar, Arctic skua, 150 Manx shearwaters, 70 gannets, 6 kittiwakes, 14 guillemots

Stanley Park - adult + 2 juvenile Grey wagtails, juvenile great spotted woodpecker (out of the nest), 10 swifts

Marton Mere LNR - Common tern, 3 Cetti's warblers, lesser whitethroat, skylark, lapwing, 2 oystercatchers, 2 kestrels, buzzard

Heron's Reach golf course - 2 Tufted ducks, reed warbler

Gynn Square - Great skua (N), 50 Manx shearwaters, 10 gannets, 2 kittiwakes

Starr Gate - Fulmar, 39 Manx shearwater, 8 gannets, 3 kittiwakes

Saturday 10th June

North Blackpool Pond Trail Holyoake Avenue - 2 Common blue butterflies, 2 blue tailed damselflies, bee orchid (not in flower), 3 common broomrapes, 2 chiffchaffs, whitethroat

Devonshire Road Rock Gardens - Whitethroat, 2 blackcaps, 2 chiffchaffs, song thrush, 4 common blue butterflies, large skipper butterfly

Warbreck Hill - Oystercatcher (nesting somewhere on Unity Academy/Mexford House?)

Starr Gate - Fulmar (S), Arctic skua, 225 Manx shearwaters, 150 Sandwich terns, 36 kittiwakes (S), 18 gannets, 16 guillemots, 10 shelducks (S)

Salisbury Woodland Gardens - Nuthatch, great spotted woodpecker

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Gadwall, 2 shovelers, great crested grebe, kestrel, lesser whitethroat, 5 swifts

Saturday 3rd June

North Blackpool Pond Trail Holyoake Avenue - 2 Chiffchaffs, whitethroat, song thrush, bee orchid (not in flower), 3 common broomrapes

Stanley Park - 3 Goldcrests, 4 adult + 2 juvenile great crested grebes, treecreeper

Marton Mere LNR - Little egret, 2 shovelers, buzzard, kestrel, 2 oystercatchers, 2 lapwings, great spotted woodpecker (W), small copper butterfly

Friday 2nd June

New South Promenade - Little egret, thornback ray eggcase, several blennies, a few sand gobies, green shore crabs, brown shrimps, common prawns

Layton - Oystercatcher, swift

Heron's Reach golf course - Little grebe

Heron's Reach - 2 Toads, smooth newt, great crested newt

Staining Nook - 10 House martins

Marton Mere LNR - Bullfinch, 3 linnets, 5 Cetti's warblers, lesser whitethroat, skylark, great spotted woodpecker, 2 mistle thrushes, 3 kestrels, sparrowhawk, buzzard, 2 shovelers, 2 gadwalls

Solais Centre - Yesterday's solitary be was re-identified by an expert as Halictus rubicundus

A warmer than average day for early June 13 - 21C mostly sunny spells with a light and decreasing easterly wind veering westerly

Solaris Centre - Solitary bee sp (possibly Colletes daviesanus)

New South Promenade - Arctic skua, 40 gannets

Marton Mere LNR - Great crested grebe, 2 shovelers, 2 gadwalls, 2 lapwings, 2 buzzards, 5 Cetti's warblers, lesser whitethroat

Staining Nook - Cetti's warbler, willow warbler

Stanley Park - 4 ad + 2 juvenile Great crested grebes, 20 swifts, 2 goldcrests
Solitary bee sp collecting pollen fron an Ox-eye daisy at the Solaris Centre

EVENT - World Environment Day Monday 5th June - Whale and Dolphin Watch 9.00am - 1.00pm from the Mirror Ball. No need to book, dress for the weather, bring binoculars and/or telescope if you have them. NB this event will be cancelled if there is rain or strong winds.
