An average start to the year 1 - 8C some sunny spells with a moderate north westerly breeze

Tuesday 3rd January

Lawson's wetland - 4 Mistle thrushes (over)

Marton Mere LNR - Iceland gull, 42 greenfinches, 10 long tailed tits, great spotted woodpecker, sparrowhawk, kestrel, 2 goldeneyes. great crested grebe

Monday 2nd January

Marton Mere LNR - Red breasted merganser (very scarce here), Iceland gull, long eared owl, woodcock, chiffchaff, goldcrest, 3 Cetti's warblers, 2 water rails, 2 little grebes, 2 goldeneyes, sparrowhawk, 30 skylarks

Sunday 1st January

Marton Mere LNR - Fox, great white egret (very scarce here), long eared owl, woodcock, 285 coots, 20 wigeon, 100 teal, 6 tree sparrows, great spotted woodpecker, 20 linnets, chiffchaff, 2 Cetti's warblers, 6 water rails, 2 sparrowhawks, kestrel, 6 stock doves, goldcrest, coal tit

Lawson's wetland - 10 Snipe

Boundary Park - Grey wagtail

Stanley Park - 107 Coots, 74 mallards, 28 shovelers, 19 gadwall.

Wednesday 3rd February

Dropping nearer to normal temperatures for February 3 - 7C mostly sunny with a moderate north westerly wind

Stanley Park - 2 Coal tits, 2 nuthatches

Marton/Cherry Tree Road - 34 Jackdaws

Staining Nook - 21 Fieldfares, 3 redwings

New South Promenade - Little gull, 2 kittiwakes

North Shore - 21 Little gulls

Lawson's Wetland - Kestrel, stonechat, 2 meadow pipits

Marton Mere LNR - Iceland gull, woodcock, 3 long eared owls (DO NOT LEAVE THE  PATHS TO VIEW THESE BIRDS), peregrine, little grebe, 4 goldeneyes, 4 pochards, 125 wigeon, 10 stock doves
