Still cool for late March 1 - 9C dull but becoming sunny on Sunday with a chilly light north westerly wind

Sunday 20th March

Marton Mere LNR - Barn owl, 11 snipe, jack snipe, little grebe, 46 wigeon, 18 shoveler, 4 buzzards, sparrowhawk, 5 linnets, 3 water rails, 5 Cetti's warblers

Saturday 19th March

Marton Mere LNR - Bittern, 2 great crested grebes, 4 oystercatchers, 4 Cetti's warblers, 2 water rails, 36 fieldfares, 2 redwings (SE), 2 kestrels, 2 sparrowhawks

Lawson's Wetland - Cetti's warbler

Warbreck Hill - 2 House sparrows (very rare here), coal tit

Starr Gate - 55 Red throated divers, 16 eiders, 4 great crested grebes, 1500 common scoters, 2 teal (N), grey wagtail (N)

Friday 18th March

Stanley Park - 2 Buzzards (over)

Zoo  - Goldcrest

Starr Gate - Great crested grebe, 2 eiders, shelduck (N)

Marton Mere LNR - Iceland gull, 2 pink footed geese, 5 oystercatchers, 43 tufted ducks, 4 redshank

Lawson's Wetland - Cetti's warbler

FAMILY WILDLIFE EVENT - Easter Saturday 26th March 2 - 3.30pm Wildlife on your doorstep. Meet at the North Blackpool Pond Trail Community Orchard Salmesbury Avenue FY2 0PS. Dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear, bring your camera and binoculars if you have them. This event is free but a donation to the Friends of North Blackpool Pond Trail would be appreciated.

ANOTHER FAMILY EVENT - Easter Sunday 27th March 9am - 12 Early spring birdwatch at Marton  Mere meet at Lawson's Rd gate. Dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear, bring your camera and binoculars if you have them. This event is free but a donation to the Friends of Marton Merel would be appreciated.

Volunteer Days at Marton Mere LNR are now every Tuesday and Thursday 10am - 3pm - All welcome. Wear suitable footwear and bring your lunch.
