Weekend round-up Friday 21st - Sunday 23rd August

A warm weekend 13 - 25C sunny spells with  thunderstorms and long heavy downpours in the afternoons, light to moderate south to south easterly winds

Sunday 23rd August

Starr Gate - Velvet scoter, 3 fulmars (N), 32 gannets, whimbrel, 2 Arctic skuas, great skua (S), 39 kittiwakes (S), 350 Sandwich terns, 120 swallows (S)

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Garganeys, 5 shovelers

Lawson's field - Butterflies: Painted lady, many peacocks

Saturday 22nd August

Marton Mere LNR - Garden warbler, 2 lesser whitethroats, 2 Cetti's warblers, 5 chiffchaffs, 2 garganeys, 7 shovelers, common sandpiper, water rail

Marton - 2 Whimbrels (over)

Starr Gate - 1200 Common scoters, red throated diver, 37 gannets, 6 Arctic skuas, 350 Sandwich terns

Warbreck Hill - Common darter dragonfly, old lady moth

Friday 20th August

New South Promenade - Grey seal, Arctic skua, 100 gannets, 35 Sandwich terns

South Pier - Idotea linearis, many brown shrimps, several green shore crabs, a few juvenile common prawns, several speckled sea lice, sand gobies, blennies

Marton Mere LNR - Garganey, 4 tree sparrows

Starr Gate - 650 common scoters, 100 gannets, 3 Arctic skuas, great skua, 170 Sandwich terns

Idotea linearis found at South Pier
