Holiday week round-up 27th August - 2nd September

A mild week of about average temperatures 10 - 19C mostly sunny with a few showers occassionally heavy, winds mostly offshore and light to moderate

Wednesday 2nd September

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Black terns, 3 garganeys, little grebe, 4 black tailed godwits (N), 25 linnets, sparrowhawk, 7 stock doves, 2 Cetti's warblers, 2 lesser whitethroats

Lawson's Wetland - Buzzard (over)

Heron's Reach - many dragonflies

Solaris Centre - Great diving beetle (1st record here), common darter, red admiral, peacock

New South Promenade -  many Green shore crabs, many common prawns, rock gobies

Tuesday 1st September

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Black terns, garganey, 2 gadwall, 30 shovelers, pochard, 7 lesser whitethroats, 5 willow warblers, 3 snipe, garden warbler, 3 Cetti's warblers, black tailed godwit (N), 11 stock doves, great spotted woiodpecker


Monday 31st August

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Black terns, garganey, osprey (S), 20 black tailed godwits (S), 3 snipe, pochard, 34 tufted ducks, buzzard, water rail, lesser whitethroat, 4 Cetti's warblers, 20 shovelers, turnip sawfly, several migrants hawkers

Warbreck Hill - Copper underwing, willow beauty moths

Sunday 30th August

Marton Mere LNR - Bittern, wood sandpiper, spotted redshank, water rail, little grebe, 9 stock doves, 2 Cetti's warblers

Warbreck Hill - Peregrine

North Shore - Grey seal, 5000 common scoters, 25 gannets, Arctic skua, 150 Knot (S), 2 red throated divers.

Bristol Avenue - Peregrine

Saturday 29th August

Starr Gate - 5 Grey seals, 53 gannets, whimbrel (S), Arctic skua, 80 Sandwich terns

Marton Mere LNR - Garganey, wood sandpiper

Friday 28th August

Starr Gate - 6 Shelduck (S), 37 Manx shearwaters, 34 gannets, 2 Arctic skuas, 80 Sandwich terns, 12 kittiwakes (S)

Marton Mere LNR - 2 Little ringed plovers (SE), 38 tufted ducks, goldcrest, many common darters, many brown hawkers, shaggy inkcap fungus

Thursday 27th August

Stanley Park - 2 ad + 2 juv Great crested grebes, 32 mute swans, wigeon, 2 gadwall

Starr Gate - 3 Pintail (S), 4 Manx shearwaters, 75 gannets, 2 Arctic skuas, 2 skua sp, great skua, 26 kittiwakes, 500 common scoters, sea slater

Great diving beetle - Solaris Centre pond
