About average temperatures for August 11 - 20C lengthy sunny spells with an increasing south westerly gale on Sunday with rain in the evening


Sunday 7th August


Stanley Park - 2 Treecreepers, great spotted woodpecker, coal tit, grey wagtail


Heron's Reach - Little grebe


Marton - Common blue (very small individual), gatekeeper, red admiral, peacock butterflies


Starr Gate - Arctic skua, eider, 18 Manx shearwaters


Saturday 6th August


Marton Mere LNR - 2 Little ringed plovers (over), snipe, 8 gadwall, juvenile great crested grebe, sparrowhawk, kestrel, 25 house martins, several common blues (including 2 very small individuals), small skipper, red admiral, peacock, small copper, meadow brown butterflies, common darter, 10 brown hawker dragonflies, Corizus hyoscyami (a true bug, new to the Fylde), 7-spot ladybird (seem to be very few about so far this year)


Warbreck Hill - Swift, willow warbler/chiffchaff (heard only), common marbled carpet, marbled beauty, small square spot, square spot rustic, lychnis moths


Friday 5th August

Marton Mere LNR - Swift, 2 sparrowhawks, kestrel

EVENT - North Blackpool Pond Trail Kincraig Lake - The natural world under our feet Tuesday 9th August 10am - 12 Meet at the duck viewing area (FY2 0HN) for an amazing family fun finding out what life is beneath our feet with expert Charlie Pass. Free but donation to the Friends of North Blackpool Pond Trail would be appreciated.
