Warmer than average for late August 13 - 23C  prolonged sunshine with light north westerly winds


Wednesday 24th August


Marton Mere LNR - 2 Garden warblers, 2 Cetti's warblers, lesser whitethroat, 5 whitethroats, 7 chiffchaffs, 5 willow warblers, garganey, 9 shovelers, 40 tufted ducks, water rail


New South Promenade - Many Sand gobies, several juvenile blennies, many brown shrimps, common prawns, 3 green shore crabs, necklace shell with hedgehog hydroid, beadlet anemone


Tuesday 23rd August


Solaris Centre - Red admiral butterfly


 New South Promenade - 2 juvemile Common Starfish, lesser spotted catshark (dead) + mermaid's purse, hornwrack, beadlet anemone, many juvenile blennies, many sand gobies, many brown shrimps, many common prawns, several green shore crabs, 3 common sandpipers


Marton Mere LNR - Garganey, little grebe, Cetti's warbler, water rail, 2 sparrowhawks


Town Centre - Peregrine, goldcrest
Common starfish
EVENT - Moth and bat night at Kincraig Lake (FY2 0HN) Saturday 3rd September 8.30 - late. Discoover what's flying around at night, led by Dave McGrath. Wear warm clothes and bring your torch. Free but donation to the Friends of the North Blackpool Pond Trail would be appreciated

EVENT - Wildlife recording walk at Marton Mere LNR Tuesday 6th September 1 - 3pm Meet at the Lawson's Road gate opposite the end of Lancaster Rd. Come along and see what autumnal species we have from birds to dragonflies to late blooming wildflowers. Free but donation to the Friends of Marton Mere would be appreciated
