About average temperatures for mid-August 14 - 19C Very unseasonal weather with heavy rain and gale force south westerly winds at times with some breezy sunshine later.


Sunday 21st August


Town Centre - Peregrine


Marton Mere LNR - Garganey, 250 lapwings, many common darters, several brown hawkers, migrant hawker dragonflies, many speckled woods, several small tortoiseshells, 3 painted lady butterflies


Marton - 2 red admiral butterflies


Starr Gate - Purple sandpiper, 59 turnstones


Stanley Park - 250 Coots, 13 gadwall


Saturday 20th August


Starr Gate - Purple sandpiper, 4 Manx shearwaters


South Shore - Fulmar (S), Arctic skua


North Blackpool Pond Trail Kincraig Lake - 3 juvenile Great crested grebes, 7 teal


Friday 19th August


Town Centre - 2 Peregrines


Starr Gate - 3 Grey seals, 2 teal (S), 3 whimbrel (S)

EVENT - Everything about Birds at Kincraig Lake (FY2 0HN) Tuesday 23rd August  10am - 12 a lively family event to learn everything about birds with expert Charlie Pass. Free but donation to the Friends of the North Blackpool Pond Trail would be appreciated

EVENT - Moth and bat night at Kincraig Lake (FY2 0HN) Saturday 3rd September 8.30 - late. Discoover what's flying around at night, led by Dave McGrath. Wear warm clothes and bring your torch. Free but donation to the Friends of the North Blackpool Pond Trail would be appreciated

EVENT - Wildlife recording walk at Marton Mere LNR Tuesday 6th September Meet at the Lawson's Road gate opposite the end of Lancaster Rd. Come along and see what autumnal species we have from birds to dragonflies to late blooming wildflowers. Free but donation to the Friends of Marton Mere would be appreciated
